Hit and Run accused arrested at Airport while attempting to flee

A man from St Vincent has been arrested and charged in relation to a road accident that left national cyclist Tahje Browne hospitalized, after he was intercepted at the airport while attempting to leave Antigua and Barbuda.

The accused, identified as Kishroy Harry, is facing four charges linked to the incident, including dangerous driving, driving without the owner’s consent, driving without a valid licence, and driving without insurance.

The collision took place on June 20 along Sir Sydney Walling Highway near the Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board, when a Toyota Vitz struck Browne as he was cycling. The incident was captured on video and has since circulated widely on social media.

Browne later underwent surgery and is said to be recovering from his injuries.

Reports indicate that in the aftermath of the crash, Harry allegedly discarded the clothing he was wearing at the time. He was later stopped at the airport on June 21 while attempting to board a flight to St Vincent, where he was taken into custody and charged.

He is expected to appear before the Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
