Antigua and Barbuda Signs UN Development Cooperation Framework
Antigua and Barbuda has signed a new United Nations Multi-Country Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (MSDCF), establishing a plan for continued collaboration with the UN on national and regional development priorities over the next five years.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne signed the agreement on behalf of the Government during a ceremony at the Office of the Prime Minister on October 23. UN Resident Coordinator for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Simon Springett, also participated in the signing.
The framework covers the period 2027–2031 and is intended to support areas such as economic diversification, climate resilience, social protection, public safety and progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals. It will also help coordinate development assistance and technical support to address the challenges facing small island states.
Antigua and Barbuda is the first country in the Eastern Caribbean to formally endorse the new framework. The agreement is also expected to support implementation of the Antigua and Barbuda Agenda for Small Island Developing States, adopted in 2024.
