Governor General Supports St. John Hospice Fundraiser Event

Governor General Sir Rodney Williams and Lady Williams attended a fundraiser for St. John Hospice. The event supported care for terminally ill patients. Moreover, it highlighted community generosity in Antigua and Barbuda.

Rodney Williams and Lady Williams joined the St. John Hospice fundraiser on 3 May 2026. The event took place at Casa Palmadita in Fitches Creek. In addition, it brought together supporters, volunteers, and guests.

The St. John Hospice provides comfort and care for terminally ill patients. It also supports families during difficult times. Therefore, it remains an important community service.

First, Sir Rodney Williams praised the Hospice for its quiet but vital work. He said the institution serves with dignity and compassion. Moreover, he described its role as essential to national care services.

Next, he encouraged continued public support. He urged people to donate and volunteer. In addition, he stressed the importance of raising awareness.

Meanwhile, Lady Williams supported the event through a donation. She represented the Halo Foundation. She presented the donation to Ms. Charlene Selkridge, who leads the planning committee.

Furthermore, the event drew strong community participation. Volunteers, sponsors, and residents attended in large numbers. As a result, the atmosphere remained warm and welcoming throughout the evening.

In addition, Mr. Colin Maynard served as master of ceremonies. He guided the programme smoothly from start to finish. Meanwhile, musical performances added energy and enjoyment.

Artists Armani Gomes, Garrett Gill, and Jevonte performed live. They played pan, guitar, and keyboard. Consequently, guests enjoyed a lively cultural experience.

Moreover, the Governor General thanked all contributors. He recognized caregivers, staff, volunteers, and sponsors. He also praised the Hospice board for its dedication.
