Ministry of Foreign Affairs opens OPANAL internship for Caribbean youth
Ministry of Foreign Affairs has opened applications. The programme targets young professionals across the Caribbean. Moreover, it links to a regional internship opportunity.
The internship comes through the OPANAL. It aims to support training in international relations. In addition, it focuses on international law and related fields.
The programme is open to several groups. These include young diplomats and early-career professionals. Also, graduate and postgraduate students may apply. Therefore, it targets emerging talent in public service.
Furthermore, the internship offers practical training. It covers international relations, political science, translation, and information technology. As a result, participants will gain hands-on experience.
The five-month programme runs in Mexico City. It begins on July 1, 2026. It ends on November 27, 2026. Consequently, selected interns will spend nearly half a year abroad.
In addition, financial support is included. Interns will receive US$1,200 per month. They will also receive round-trip airfare. However, they must cover some costs themselves. For example, accommodation is not included.
Also, interns must handle immigration requirements. These are set by the Mexican government. In addition, they must obtain medical insurance coverage.
According to OPANAL, the programme has a wider purpose. It strengthens ties with CARICOM member states. Moreover, it promotes nuclear disarmament education.

Required documents include several items. First, a curriculum vitae of up to two pages. Next, a one-page statement of purpose is needed. Also, applicants must provide certified transcripts. Furthermore, a letter of endorsement is required. Finally, proof of health insurance enrollment must be included.
During the programme, interns will assist with key tasks. These include research and report writing. They will also support translation and meeting preparation. In addition, they will handle documentation management.
