YEEP Adds Four New Subjects for 2026
YEEP will expand its second-chance education programme with four new subject areas for the 2026–2027 academic year.
The Youth Education and Empowerment Programme continues growing as more people seek academic and personal development opportunities. As a result, officials are adding Spanish, Theatre Arts, Adult Literacy, and Financial Literacy to the curriculum.
YEEP Director Dr. Troy Allen announced the expansion this week. He also confirmed that registration is already open for the new subjects and existing programme offerings.
Moreover, the programme aims to support young people and adults looking for a second chance at education and skills training. Many participants use the programme to improve qualifications and increase employment opportunities.
In addition, YEEP helps individuals who may have left the traditional school system. Others join to strengthen literacy skills or gain practical knowledge for everyday life.
The introduction of Financial Literacy is expected to help participants better manage money and make informed financial decisions. Meanwhile, Adult Literacy classes will support individuals seeking stronger reading and writing skills.
At the same time, Spanish and Theatre Arts will provide creative and communication-focused learning opportunities. Officials believe these subjects can help students build confidence and broaden career possibilities.
Over the years, YEEP has become an important part of Antigua and Barbuda’s education and empowerment efforts. The programme continues creating opportunities for people who want to improve their future through learning and self-development.
Furthermore, the expansion reflects the government’s continued support for second-chance education initiatives across the country.
Interested persons can contact the programme directly for more information. Officials said registration remains open as preparations continue for the upcoming academic year.
Overall, the addition of four new subjects marks another step forward for YEEP. The programme continues giving individuals opportunities to grow academically, develop new skills, and improve their long-term prospects.
