Community gathers in mourning

Hundreds gathered for a candlelight vigil for Brianna Clarke. She was 18 years old. Moreover, she was a culinary student.

Clarke was shot dead in Point on March 26. Therefore, family and friends organized a vigil in her memory.

Vigil procession through Point community

The vigil began at Baker’s Corner. It took place in the Point community on Thursday night. In addition, family members led the event.

Mourners then walked through Bryons Street and Hand Street. They stopped briefly near the shooting location. As a result, the moment carried deep emotion.

The procession ended at Paradise Cove. There, participants shared tributes, prayers, and reflections. Moreover, the atmosphere remained solemn throughout.

Candles and tributes shared

Candles and phone lights lit the route. The crowd moved in silence. However, music and songs later formed part of the final gathering.

Family members shared emotional tributes. In addition, they spoke about Clarke’s life and dreams.

Family remembers Brianna Clarke

Her grandmother, Blondelle Hopkins, described her as calm and gentle. She also said Brianna loved cooking. Moreover, she said Brianna avoided conflict.

Hopkins also performed a song during the vigil. She sang Tian Winter’s “Glass House.” She said it was one of Brianna’s favourites.

Family members said Clarke wanted to become a private chef. Therefore, she had strong career goals.

Her sister, Oshari Joseph, spoke about their bond. She called Brianna her best friend. In addition, she said they shared a close childhood relationship.

Friends recall her personality

Friends described Clarke as quiet and kind. They also called her compassionate. Moreover, they said she made people feel valued.

One friend said she made everyone feel seen and loved. Therefore, many remembered her warm personality.

Police investigation continues

Clarke and another victim, Lewis, were shot outside their Hand Street home. This happened on the morning of March 26.

Police later detained two suspects. The suspects are 19 and 24 years old. However, investigations continue.

Funeral arrangements

Clarke’s funeral is scheduled for May 21. It will take place at St Andrew’s Anglican Church. The service begins at 2:30 p.m.
