Villa Resident Found Dead at Home After Welfare Concerns

Villa

Villa residents discovered a tragic scene on Tuesday after they found a man dead inside his home. Meanwhile, police launched an investigation into the circumstances.

Residents identified the deceased as Henry Waterman. He lived for years in the Villa community in Antigua and Barbuda.

Waterman came from Barbados. He also worked previously as a teacher at Mary E. Pigott Primary School.

Neighbours said he struggled with health and personal issues. As a result, he slowly withdrew from daily community life.

Concern grew on Monday when a relative left food outside his home. However, no one touched the food the next day.

In addition, residents noticed a strong smell coming from the property. They also saw an unusual number of flies around the area.

Because of this, neighbours decided to check on him. They acted quickly due to rising concern.

During the check, they found Waterman’s body inside the house. Sadly, his body showed advanced decomposition.

Police arrived soon after the discovery. A district doctor also came to the scene.

The doctor confirmed his death at the location. However, officials did not release the cause of death.

Meanwhile, police opened a full investigation. They now work to understand what happened in the days before his death.

Residents in Villa expressed deep sadness. Many said they felt shocked by the discovery.

At the same time, some residents raised concerns about people living alone. They called for stronger community checks on vulnerable individuals.

Former colleagues remembered Waterman as a dedicated teacher. They said he made a positive impact during his career.

For now, police continue their investigation. Meanwhile, the community mourns and waits for further updates.
