Antigua has reached a new milestone in its reef restoration efforts, with more than 5,800 corals planted across marine sites this year.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening reef ecosystems that support marine life, protect coastlines and contribute to the country’s tourism industry.

Project teams have been working to grow and transplant corals in areas where reefs have been affected by environmental pressures, helping to improve the health and resilience of underwater habitats.

Organizers say this year marks the largest coral planting effort since the programme began, representing another step in the long-term restoration of Antigua’s marine environment.
