Police in Jamaica have seized a record-breaking 5,100 kilograms of cocaine during the first half of 2026. The haul is worth an estimated J$3 billion. The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said its Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID) led the operations. Officers targeted organised crime groups using Jamaica as a drug trafficking route.

Police said the 2026 total is the largest cocaine seizure recorded in the past decade. The six-month haul is greater than the combined total seized between 2016 and 2021, when officers recovered 4,916 kilograms. Since 2016, authorities have seized 11,852 kilograms nationwide. This year’s total already accounts for about 43 percent of that figure. It also beats the previous annual record of 2,508 kilograms set in 2024.

Police say the operation has dealt a major financial blow to international drug traffickers. FNID Director Superintendent Patrae Rowe praised investigators and border security partners for their work. He said removing more than 5,000 kilograms of cocaine from the illegal market hurts criminal organisations. He added that the J$3 billion seizure also helps reduce the violence linked to the drug trade.

Police say they will continue targeting the criminal networks behind drug trafficking in Jamaica. The JCF plans to strengthen border security and work closely with local and international partners. Officials say these efforts will disrupt organised crime and help keep illegal drugs out of communities.
