Browne Takes Over OECS Chairmanship

PM

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has assumed the chairmanship of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States following the handover from Ralph Gonsalves.

The transition took place during the OECS Authority Meeting, where regional leaders gathered to discuss matters affecting member states, including economic development, climate resilience, regional integration, and security.

As the new chairman, Browne is expected to help guide the organization’s agenda over the coming months, working with fellow leaders to advance priorities aimed at improving the lives of citizens across the Eastern Caribbean.

The OECS plays a key role in fostering cooperation among member states through shared policies and initiatives in areas such as trade, education, health, and sustainable development. Browne’s appointment places Antigua and Barbuda at the forefront of the regional body’s leadership.
