Antigua to Expect More Port Calls in 2027

Antigua and Barbuda is expected to see an increase in cruise ship visits in 2027, as the destination continues to strengthen its position in the regional cruise market. Tourism officials say additional port calls have already been scheduled, reflecting growing demand from cruise lines.

The expansion follows continued investment in port infrastructure and improvements to the visitor experience. Upgrades at the cruise port have made it easier to accommodate larger vessels and higher passenger volumes, helping the country remain competitive.

Officials believe the increase in calls will bring strong economic benefits, particularly for small businesses, vendors, and service providers who rely on cruise tourism. The sector remains a key pillar of Antigua and Barbuda’s economy.

The increase in calls follows the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA)’s meetings with multiple cruise lines at last week’s Seatrade Cruise Global conference. The maiden voyage MSC World Europa, is also set for December 7, 2026, bringing approximately 5,250 passengers to Antigua and Barbuda.

With forward bookings already showing growth, authorities say the outlook for 2027 is positive as the country continues to attract major cruise operators and expand its tourism offerings.
