Government Says Development Projects Will Continue After Election

Government

Government projects launched before the April 30 election will continue across Antigua and Barbuda, Prime Minister Gaston Browne said this week. Moreover, he insisted the administration plans to expand several national development programmes.

Speaking on Pointe FM, Browne rejected claims that recent works were only linked to the election campaign. Instead, he said the government remains committed to long-term national growth and transformation.

“We are not simply managing a system. We are transforming it,” Browne said during the interview.

The prime minister pointed to ongoing roadworks, housing developments, and beautification projects as proof that the administration’s plans are continuing after the election. In addition, he said the government will keep investing in climate resilience and environmental improvement projects.

“We’re pushing to not only clean up the entire country,” Browne said. He also spoke about removing derelict properties and improving the country’s appearance.

Meanwhile, the government continues work on several infrastructure upgrades across Antigua and Barbuda. These projects include road rehabilitation, landscaping programmes, and climate-resilient developments.

Browne also highlighted the expansion of rent-to-own housing initiatives. According to him, the administration wants to improve housing access while supporting community development.

Furthermore, the prime minister said the government already secured funding for several major projects. Therefore, he expects continued investment in roads, tourism infrastructure, housing, and public works.

The administration has repeatedly described its plans as part of a wider national “Renaissance” agenda. Browne said the focus remains on improving communities and modernising infrastructure throughout the country.

In recent weeks, government officials also promoted projects tied to environmental maintenance and urban improvement. Additionally, officials pointed to ongoing works as part of broader economic development efforts.

The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party secured a fourth consecutive term in office after winning 15 of the country’s 17 parliamentary seats in the April 30 general election. As a result, the government now moves forward with a renewed mandate and several continuing national projects.
