Government Reminds Essential Workers to Report on Holidays
Government officials have reminded essential workers that they must report for duty on public holidays. Meanwhile, the Cabinet reaffirmed the rules outlined in the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Code.
The Cabinet reviewed employment obligations during its Wednesday meeting. In particular, ministers discussed workers assigned to essential services.
According to the Cabinet, employees scheduled to work on public holidays must report for duty. They must also carry out their assigned responsibilities.
Meanwhile, ministers stressed the importance of essential services across the country. These services help maintain daily operations and public support systems.
In addition, the Cabinet said uninterrupted services remain necessary for national stability. Officials also emphasized the need for efficiency and continuity.
The Government noted that workers must follow established schedules and operational requirements. Therefore, officials said compliance remains important for public confidence.
The Cabinet also reviewed a report from the Ministry of Works regarding the Office of National Drug Control Policy building. The report examined the safety of the facility.
According to the technical assessment, the building remains safe for occupancy and normal operations. As a result, the Cabinet expects employees to continue working there.
Meanwhile, officials advised ONDCP staff members to continue their daily duties. They are expected to operate within the existing work environment.
In addition, the Government reaffirmed its commitment to safe working conditions for public workers. Officials also stressed the importance of maintaining efficient public services.
Cabinet said the Government will continue supporting suitable work environments throughout Antigua and Barbuda. At the same time, officials emphasized operational continuity.
The discussion formed part of broader Cabinet matters reviewed during Wednesday’s meeting. Ministers also highlighted the role public workers play in national operations.
For now, the Government says all essential workers must continue following assigned work schedules, including duties during public holidays.
