BVI to Remove Visas for Work Permit Holders

The British Virgin Islands government plans to remove visa requirements for work permit holders in the coming weeks. Officials say the change will help businesses hire workers faster and improve the territory’s investment climate.

Premier Dr. Natalio Wheatley announced the measure during his 2026 State of the Territory Address. According to Wheatley, removing visa requirements for work permit holders will reduce delays that businesses face when bringing employees into the territory. The reform forms part of a wider strategy to strengthen economic growth and improve the ease of doing business. In addition, the government has introduced digital upgrades to the work permit process.
