St Kitts PM Recovering After Health Scare

St Kitts Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew says he remains in good spirits and is recovering well after a recent health scare. The 49-year-old leader is now in South Florida, where doctors continue to evaluate his condition.

Drew spoke to the public on Thursday in a five-minute broadcast. He appeared with medical tubes and plaster attached to his hands. However, he said there is nothing alarming to report at this stage. He also confirmed that he remains fully conscious and in stable condition.

The Prime Minister did not reveal the nature of his illness. Earlier reports from Martinique claimed that he had suffered a stroke. Drew did not confirm those reports during his broadcast.

He explained that his symptoms began last Sunday with persistent nausea. The nausea later led to several episodes of vomiting. He also felt pain on the left side of his neck, along with a mild headache and dizziness.

As the day progressed, Drew became unsteady on his feet. He also had trouble with his balance and walking. He said he understood that these symptoms required immediate medical attention.

Drew contacted three doctors, including a resident neurologist. They advised him to seek care at the JNF General Hospital. Medical staff there carried out scans and other tests to determine what was happening.

After receiving initial treatment, Drew and his wife travelled to Martinique. They later went to South Florida on the advice of medical specialists. He said doctors are continuing their investigations and that he will provide another update after the evaluations.

The Prime Minister said he has been following his doctors’ advice and taking time to rest. Although he misses his usual gym routine, he said he went for a gentle walk on Thursday morning and felt good getting active again.

Drew also thanked the doctors, nurses and other medical staff who cared for him. He expressed gratitude to the people who sent prayers, messages and well wishes during his recovery.

He described the experience as a wake-up call and urged people to take their health seriously. Drew encouraged residents to attend regular check-ups, get enough rest and pay attention to warning signs from their bodies.

He ended his message by thanking the public for their continued support and saying that he and his family remain deeply grateful.
