Caribbean leaders are expected to place reparations for slavery and colonialism high on the agenda at an upcoming Commonwealth summit that King Charles III is expected to attend.

Regional governments have indicated that the gathering will provide an opportunity to continue discussions on historical injustices and the long-standing call for reparatory justice.

Leaders from across the Caribbean have maintained that the issue remains an important priority for the region and intend to keep it in focus during engagements with Commonwealth partners.

The summit is expected to bring together heads of government and other senior officials to discuss a range of issues affecting member states, including development, climate resilience and international cooperation.
