Gaston Browne says safety is vital for economic growth. Moreover, he described Antigua and Barbuda as highly secure.

He told supporters that the country ranks among “one of the safest places in the world.” In addition, he linked safety directly to economic performance. Therefore, he argued that security supports national development.

Browne made the comments at the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party convention. He also spoke after being returned unopposed as leader. As a result, he used the platform to highlight his government’s record.

He stressed that growth depends on stability. “You cannot grow an economy in an unsafe environment,” he said. Furthermore, he warned that insecurity would weaken progress.

In addition, Browne praised the country’s security forces. He credited law enforcement for maintaining stability. Moreover, he thanked members of the security services for their work.

He said their role is critical to national protection. Consequently, he argued that their efforts help sustain economic confidence. At the same time, he maintained that Antigua and Barbuda remains safe.

Browne repeated his view on national security. He stated again that the country is among the safest globally. Therefore, he framed safety as a major achievement of his administration.

Furthermore, he positioned security as a core policy pillar. He said development depends on continued stability. In addition, he linked this stability to public confidence.

Browne also issued a warning ahead of the next election. He urged voters to consider leadership carefully. Moreover, he said poor governance could threaten progress.

“Our people should not risk putting the governance of this country into incompetent hands,” he said. As a result, he framed the election as a key national decision.

He also contrasted political choices. He described the options as “certainty and confusion.” In addition, he said voters must choose between “progress and paralysis.”

Finally, Browne urged supporters to campaign actively. He said they must promote the government’s record. Therefore, he stressed that continued development requires strong leadership and a secure environment.
