Three Charged After Red Hill Gun and Cannabis Bust
Three people will appear in court after police carried out operations in Red Hill. During the exercise, officers seized a gun, ammunition, and cannabis.
Police launched the operations early Monday morning. Several police units joined the coordinated effort across the community.
Officers from the Criminal Investigations Department Task Force took part. In addition, the Gang and Guns Suppression Unit joined the operation. The Special Services Unit and K-9 Unit also assisted.
During the searches, officers found illegal drugs and a firearm. As a result, police arrested and charged several people with firearm and drug offences.
One of the accused is Embert St. Ange of Red Hill. Police charged him with unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition, and cannabis.
Investigators said officers found a Ruger .380 auto pistol during the operation. They also seized fourteen rounds of .380 ammunition and one round of 9mm ammunition.
In addition, officers discovered about one pound of cannabis. Consequently, Embert St. Ange now faces several charges linked to the seizure.
Meanwhile, police also charged 38-year-old Gael St. Ange with unlawful possession of 113 grams of cannabis.
In another matter, Gael St. Ange and 28-year-old Tamisha Cyrille now face joint charges. Police accused both of possessing 3.8 pounds of cannabis.
Furthermore, officers charged the pair with possession of cannabis with intent to transfer.
Police said the arrests followed several search operations in Red Hill. Moreover, investigators linked the exercise to efforts to reduce crime.
Authorities also said officers will continue targeting illegal firearms and drugs across Antigua and Barbuda.
Police added that the latest arrests support wider public safety efforts. Therefore, officers plan to continue operations in communities affected by criminal activity.
The three accused are expected to appear before the court at a later date.
