Health Officials Intensify Ebola Monitoring Measures
Health officials in Antigua and Barbuda are closely monitoring Ebola outbreaks in parts of Central and East Africa.
However, authorities said there are currently no suspected Ebola cases locally.
During Friday’s press conference, Health Minister Michael Joseph said the ministry has strengthened national preparedness measures.
Additionally, officials increased surveillance efforts after alerts from the World Health Organization.
Health authorities also confirmed that existing Ebola response protocols are under review.
The updated measures include stronger surveillance and infection prevention procedures.
Officials are also reviewing case management systems and protocols for handling human remains safely.
Meanwhile, the ministry said preparations continue at the country’s infectious disease facilities.
Authorities want the facilities ready if isolation or specialized care becomes necessary.
Furthermore, health officials encouraged residents to continue practicing proper hygiene.
They also urged people to seek medical attention after international travel if they develop fever or illness.
Officials said the ministry remains focused on preparedness and public safety as global health concerns continue.
