Second shipment of construction materials has arrived in Antigua and Barbuda for vulnerable families.

Meanwhile, officials are preparing a distribution schedule for households across the country.

Director General of Communications Maurice Merchant confirmed the update during Thursday’s post-Cabinet briefing.

Questions had emerged about whether the post-election shipment reached the island.

However, Merchant confirmed the materials are now in Antigua and Barbuda.

“If not, it is here,” Merchant said during the briefing.

According to Merchant, Cabinet received updates on the upcoming distribution process.

He said officials are organizing deliveries for vulnerable and needy residents nationwide.

“The honourable minister announced to Cabinet yesterday that he is putting in place a schedule,” Merchant said.

The programme forms part of a government initiative supporting households needing construction assistance.

In addition, the Gaston Browne administration introduced an effort to provide building materials.

Merchant also highlighted the role of Urban and Social Transformation Minister Rawdon Turner.

He said Turner continues helping with weekend deliveries to residents.

“On Saturdays and Sundays, the Honourable Rawdon Turner is out there delivering materials,” Merchant added.

Meanwhile, officials did not reveal how many materials arrived in the second shipment.

They also did not identify which communities would receive supplies first.

However, the new distribution schedule is expected to guide upcoming deliveries across the island.
