Moreover, ABLP candidate Michael Joseph shared details earlier today. He represents St. John’s Rural West and serves as Minister of State in Health, Wellness and the Environment. Therefore, he outlined the government’s housing plans.
In addition, the National Housing Development and Urban Renewal Company Limited will manage the project. Minister of Social and Urban Transformation Rawdon Turner provides oversight. This structure aims to guide the development process.
Furthermore, Joseph said the project will include two- and three-bedroom homes. Builders will use durable concrete materials. As a result, the homes aim to offer long-term strength.
He also said the project will follow climate-resilient standards. Therefore, it targets safer and more sustainable communities. In addition, it supports modern housing needs.
Importantly, the plan includes 100 single-family homes. These homes will target first-time homeowners. They will also be released in phases.
Moreover, Joseph said the project goes beyond housing. He said it focuses on opportunity and dignity. Therefore, it aims to support better living conditions for families.
In addition, he said the initiative creates pathways to homeownership. It targets hardworking families across the country. As a result, it supports community development.
Furthermore, the project forms part of a wider national housing strategy. The ABLP says it aims to expand affordable housing. It also focuses on improving community infrastructure.
Since 2014, the government reports strong housing activity. It says it has released over 5,385 parcels of land. It has also built more than 2,395 homes across several communities.
These communities include Paynter’s, Olivers, Denfields, and Dredge Bay. They also include North Sound, Lightfoot, Follies, and Herberts. Therefore, development has spread across multiple areas.
Finally, Joseph said the “housing revolution” has reached Five Islands. He said the project will bring new opportunities. In the end, he said it will help build stronger lives and communities.
