Antigua and Barbuda has introduced changes to its Citizenship by Investment Programme through new legislation aimed at strengthening oversight, transparency, and compliance.

The updated bill includes measures such as mandatory independent audits of the programme and an increase in the minimum residency requirement for applicants to 30 days. The changes are intended to enhance the programme’s governance and international credibility.

Officials say the reforms form part of ongoing efforts to improve accountability and maintain strong standards within the Citizenship by Investment framework.

The amendments come as Caribbean Citizenship by Investment programmes continue to face increased international scrutiny, with governments working to balance economic benefits with stronger regulatory measures.
