OAS says Haiti support efforts are moving into the implementation phase.
Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Albert Ramdin, has updated member states on ongoing efforts to support Haiti, highlighting progress in political facilitation, election preparations, security cooperation, and international coordination.
Ramdin said the OAS remains committed to supporting Haitian-led solutions through its Roadmap for Stability and Peace in Haiti. He noted that recent diplomatic engagement helped maintain executive continuity during a period of political uncertainty around February 7, 2026, helping to avoid a deeper institutional crisis.
The OAS also continues to assist Haiti’s electoral authorities following the adoption of the country’s Electoral Decree in December 2025. Support includes work on electoral technology, information systems, and institutional strengthening through collaboration with Haiti’s Provisional Electoral Council.
On security, Ramdin highlighted expanded support for policing, gang suppression efforts, financial investigations, infrastructure improvements, and maritime and port security. He also reported progress on the Haiti Roadmap Dashboard, designed to improve transparency and track international assistance.
Haiti’s Permanent Representative to the OAS, Jean Josué Pierre, welcomed the developments, saying there are signs that stability and security are gradually returning to the capital. He also announced a draft resolution aimed at strengthening coordination of support for Haiti, which is expected to be debated during the upcoming OAS General Assembly in Panama City.
Ahead of the June 22-24 meeting, Ramdin stated that the Group of Friends of Haiti will convene to review progress and mobilize additional support. He also introduced Alberto Föhrig as the OAS Secretary General’s Special Representative for Haiti and Head of the OAS Special Mission.
