Pringle promises barrel concessions in cost-of-living plan
Pringle promises year-round barrel concessions as part of a cost-of-living plan. Jamale Pringle outlined the plan on Sunday night.
He said a United Progressive Party government would expand barrel concessions. In addition, he said families need relief from rising prices.
Pringle spoke at the party’s campaign launch. Therefore, he used the platform to present key proposals.
He explained that current barrel concessions are limited. However, he said his plan would make them more consistent year-round.
As a result, households would get steady relief on imported goods. He linked this to ongoing cost-of-living pressures.
Pringle also introduced a Water Tanks and Accessories Relief Program. This would remove taxes on key water equipment.
He said the plan includes pumps, pressure tanks, and water tanks. Therefore, households would face lower costs for water storage.
In addition, he said the measure would help families manage water shortages. It would support them during inconsistent supply.
“This will help until we deliver regular water supply,” he said. Therefore, he framed it as an interim solution.
Pringle also addressed transport costs. He proposed removing import duties on personal vehicles. As a result, he said transportation would become more affordable.
In addition, he linked all proposals to broader economic concerns. He pointed to rising prices and household pressure.
He outlined everyday needs affected by costs. These include food, roads, water, vehicles, and healthcare.
Therefore, he said his plan focuses on practical relief. He described it as a direct response to hardship.
“This is not a wish,” he said. Instead, he called it a contract with the people.
The proposals come as cost-of-living concerns remain central. In addition, both major parties continue campaigning ahead of April 30.
As a result, economic relief has become a key election issue. Voters now weigh competing plans for affordability.
Finally, Pringle said his party will focus on practical support. He said the goal is to improve daily living conditions.
