Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Frankie Thomas has defended a recent cannabis seizure near Pares, describing the operation as a significant success in the fight against illegal drugs.

The operation resulted in the discovery of a large quantity of cannabis and the arrest of four men, who remain in police custody as investigations continue. Law enforcement officials have indicated that the seizure forms part of ongoing efforts to disrupt drug trafficking and related criminal activity.

ASP Thomas responded to public discussion surrounding the operation, emphasizing that the police acted within the law and carried out the exercise based on intelligence gathered during investigations.

Authorities have not ruled out further arrests as inquiries continue. Police say they remain committed to targeting illegal drug operations and reducing the impact of narcotics-related crime within communities across Antigua and Barbuda.
