The High Court has dismissed all charges—including Murder, Aggravated Robbery, and Manslaughter—against 27-year-old Jahciba Shoy. The charges were tied to the 2023 murder of Roudi Shmaly during an armed robbery at Pick ‘N Mix Mart on DeSouza Road. Shoy’s attorney, Wendel Alexander, successfully argued a no-case submission, maintaining that the prosecution’s reliance on surveillance footage showing Shoy walking with the shooter minutes before the crime, and carrying a similar shoulder bag, was merely speculation and suspicion rather than solid evidence.

The prosecution had attempted to link Shoy to the trigger-man, who was a 16-year-old male at the time of the incident. Defense counsel argued, and the court agreed, that it was too risky to leave a case built on circumstantial suspicion to a jury. Meanwhile, the teenager who was previously convicted for pulling the trigger has already completed a three-year prison sentence, which was the maximum penalty allowed under juvenile sentencing guidelines at the time
