Thousands of students prepare for May-June CXC exams
Thousands of students across the Caribbean are preparing for May-June CXC exams. Officials urge focus and confidence during this period.
Meanwhile, Caribbean Examinations Council continues to guide candidates. Registrar Dr. Wayne Wesley addressed students ahead of exams.
In his message, he encouraged students to stay focused. He also reminded them of the Council’s support. Therefore, candidates should feel confident.
In addition, he highlighted a key development this year. The Council has launched a pilot programme. It introduces the Caribbean Targeted Education Certificate.
Moreover, about 2,443 students will join the pilot. They come from 13 member states. They will complete the CTEC Mathematics Module 1.
As a result, students will earn a micro-credential. This will support progress toward CSEC certification. He described this as the future of education.
Meanwhile, he praised students and teachers in Jamaica. They showed resilience after Hurricane Melissa. Despite challenges, many are ready for exams.
Furthermore, he said the Council monitors exams closely. It will act when needed. This ensures fairness and protects candidates.
Locally, Dr. Myrick Smith shared similar advice. He urged students in Antigua and Barbuda to stay focused.
He noted that these exams are important. Results can shape future opportunities. Therefore, students must stay committed.
In addition, he warned about distractions. He pointed to the ongoing election period. However, he urged students to remain disciplined.
Meanwhile, School-Based Assessments are complete. Teachers have already submitted grades. Therefore, students now focus on final exams.
Also, oral exams and practicals are in progress. These cover modern languages and other subjects. Students continue preparing across areas.
He advised students to use past papers. Many are available online. In addition, reviewing syllabuses can improve readiness.
Finally, he encouraged confidence. He said students can succeed with proper preparation. Therefore, they should approach exams with a positive mindset.
