Fernandez Says $1.5B Tourism Boom Planned for Antigua

Major Investment Pipeline

Fernandez announced more than US$1.5 billion in tourism investment for Antigua and Barbuda. He said the projects will roll out over two to three years. He made the statement at the ABLP manifesto launch.

The event took place at the American University of Antigua Conference Centre. He described the investment pipeline as unprecedented. He also linked it to jobs and growth.

Key Projects Identified

Fernandez said developers will spread the US$1.5 billion across multiple projects. The timeline runs 24 to 36 months. He expects rapid construction activity.

Half Moon Bay leads the list at US$465 million. Nikki Beach Residences follows at US$400 million. Buccaneer Beach adds another US$40 million.

Nobu has already committed more than US$70 million. A new Marriott hotel will rise at Yepton Beach. Jolly Beach Resort will also undergo major renovation.

Infrastructure Expansion

Officials also plan major infrastructure upgrades. VC Bird International Airport will receive a US$55 million investment. A waterfront project will add US$40 million more.

A brewery project worth US$23 million will also move ahead. These projects expand activity beyond hotels. They also support diversification.

New Developments Starting

The Eddie Caren Long Bay project will break ground next month. Work has already started at La Mer Estate in Willoughby Bay. Developers continue to push new construction forward.

Fernandez said these projects will create jobs quickly. Construction will lead the early phase. Later, hospitality and service jobs will grow.

Economic Impact

Local businesses will gain new opportunities. Supply chains will expand across sectors. This will spread economic activity more widely.

Fernandez said investor confidence remains strong. He credited government planning for attracting investment. He said clear direction helped secure deals.

Tourism remains the main pillar of the economy. However, the government now pushes expansion. Fernandez said the country must grow, not stall.

He said the focus now includes shared benefits. He added that communities should gain from tourism growth.
