West Indies Select XI beat Sri Lanka by 15 runs

Fast bowlers Nial Smith and Alzarri Joseph produced a match-winning performance to guide the West Indies Select XI to a dramatic 15-run victory over Sri Lanka at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.

The pair combined for nine wickets as Sri Lanka, chasing a target of 124, were bowled out for 108 on the final day after resuming play at 30 for one.

Sri Lanka appeared to be in control with Nishan Madushka and Dinesh Chandimal building a steady partnership and the score reaching 46 for one. However, the match shifted in favour of the West Indies Select XI when Smith dismissed Chandimal for 19 and later bowled Madushka for 30.

Smith continued to apply pressure by removing Dhananjaya de Silva for just one, while Joseph joined the attack to dismiss Pasindu Sooriyabandara. Ojay Shields also contributed by claiming the wicket of Sonal Dinusha, leaving Sri Lanka struggling at 68 for six.

Although Sri Lanka recovered to 89 for six through Prabath Jayasuriya and Milan Rathnayake, the partnership was short-lived. Smith removed Jayasuriya with a return catch, and Joseph bowled Rathnayake shortly after to leave the visitors reeling at 93 for eight.

The West Indies bowlers completed the comeback by quickly dismissing the remaining batsmen, securing an impressive victory. Smith finished with figures of 5 for 30, while Joseph claimed 4 for 41.
