King and Queen Depart Antigua After Six-Day Visit
King Charles III and Queen Camilla have departed Antigua and Barbuda following a six-day official visit that coincided with the country’s 45th Independence celebrations and the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
The royal couple received a ceremonial send-off at V.C. Bird International Airport. Governor-General Sir Rodney Williams, the King’s official representative in Antigua and Barbuda, was present for their departure.
Their final engagement was a dinner hosted by the King on Tuesday evening for leaders attending CHOGM. During the visit, the couple also participated in national celebrations, including the Independence Parade at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.
The visit brought attention to Antigua and Barbuda’s role in hosting Commonwealth leaders, while discussions surrounding the legacy of slavery and calls for reparations remained prominent during the summit.
