Cricket West Indies (CWI) has brought some of the region’s most promising fast-bowling prospects to Antigua for a specialized development camp aimed at identifying and strengthening the next generation of pace bowlers.

The programme is set to run from June 1–11, 2026 at the Coolidge Cricket Ground. It combines technical training, fitness assessments, and performance testing to evaluate the athletes’ potential and prepare them for higher levels of competition. Participants are working closely with experienced coaches including Former West Indies fast bowler and world-renowned bowling coach Ottis Gibson who is leading the training.

“I’ve been very impressed with the talent and resources I’ve seen so far during my time here. There are several promising players who stand out in terms of their physicality, height and strength. What they now need is the capacity, determination, and desire to consistently bowl fast,” Gibson commented.

CWI said the initiative forms part of its long-term strategy to rebuild and strengthen the region’s fast-bowling tradition by investing in emerging talent from across the Caribbean.

The camp provides young bowlers with an opportunity to refine their skills, improve their physical conditioning, and gain valuable experience in a high-performance environment.
