Antigua Will Deny Deported LGBTQ Migrants
Antigua and Barbuda will not accept deported LGBTQ individuals under any proposed migrant relocation arrangements. This is the latest statement regarding the pending migrant program between the USA and Antigua and Barbuda.
Browne made the comments while addressing concerns about reports involving Caribbean countries potentially receiving deportees from the United States. He emphasized that Antigua and Barbuda’s position remains guided by national interests, available resources, and the country’s capacity to manage any such programme.

“We have enough of those here,” Gaston Browne complained on his weekend radio show, pointing to neighboring St. Kitts and Nevis, which was forced to accept two gay individuals from the US recently. “I’m told the three that were sent to St. Kitts, two of them are LGBTQIAs,” Browne said. “We do not want people who are criminals. We don’t want people who are sick. We do not want anyone who is going to become a charge.”
Prime Minister Browne also reiterated that any agreement involving the acceptance of deportees would be carefully reviewed and subject to strict conditions. He noted that the government would not enter into arrangements that place undue burdens on the country.
The remarks come amid ongoing regional discussions regarding migration policies and proposals involving the relocation of deported individuals to Caribbean nations.
