Health Minister Michael Joseph has completed an island-wide tour of public clinics to celebrate Nurses Week. During the visits, he thanked nurses for their dedication and frontline service.

Throughout the tour, Joseph visited clinics in Bethesda, Freetown, Newfield, Swetes, Liberta, Cobbs Cross, Jennings, Bolans, Johnson’s Point, and Old Road. At each stop, he presented gift baskets to nursing staff.

Additionally, the minister personally sponsored the baskets as a gesture of appreciation. According to the Health Ministry, the gifts recognized nurses for their compassion, commitment, and patient care.

Meanwhile, healthcare workers welcomed the visits and thanked the minister for recognizing their hard work. Many nurses also described the gesture as thoughtful and encouraging.

The ministry said the initiative formed part of Nurses Week activities across Antigua and Barbuda. Furthermore, officials stressed the importance of acknowledging healthcare workers regularly.

With the latest round of visits complete, all public clinics in Antigua have now received gift baskets. However, visits to clinics in Barbuda are still expected in the coming days.

Joseph also used the opportunity to reaffirm support for the country’s healthcare workers. In addition, he pledged continued efforts to strengthen primary healthcare services nationwide.

“Nurses remain central to patient care and community wellness,” the minister said. He also praised their role in delivering frontline healthcare services every day.

Across the island, nurses continue handling long hours and demanding responsibilities. Therefore, the ministry said their contribution remains vital to the healthcare system.

During the tour, Joseph spent time speaking directly with clinic staff members. As a result, nurses were able to discuss challenges and share concerns affecting daily operations.

The visits also highlighted the important role community clinics play in public healthcare. Many residents rely on these facilities for routine care and medical support.

Meanwhile, the ministry said improving healthcare services remains a national priority. Officials added that frontline workers deserve continued recognition and support.

Nurses Week activities continue as healthcare workers across Antigua and Barbuda receive praise for their service. Moreover, many residents have also expressed gratitude for the care nurses provide daily.

For now, the ministry says it will continue working closely with healthcare staff to improve patient services and strengthen community-based healthcare throughout the country.
