The Connect2Reconnect (C2R) Pilot 2026 programme has concluded, marking another chapter in the long-standing relationship between the London Borough of Waltham Forest and its Caribbean twin communities in Antigua and Barbuda and Dominica.

Organized by the Waltham Forest, Antigua & Barbuda and Dominica Twinning Association (WFTA), the initiative ran from April 20 to May 8 and brought together government representatives, community leaders, and cultural organizations to deepen cooperation and strengthen people-to-people connections.

A delegation led by WFTA Chair Mervin Caesar-John visited Antigua, Barbuda, and Dominica, participating in a range of engagements aimed at fostering collaboration. In Antigua, the group met with Governor General Sir Rodney Williams to discuss topics including community wellbeing and dementia awareness.

While in Barbuda, delegates held talks with MP Trevor Walker and Barbuda Council Chairman John Mussington and toured The Lit! Project. The visit to Dominica included meetings with local stakeholders, attendance at the Jazz ‘n Creole Festival, media engagements, and cultural exchange activities.

A highlight of the programme was the presentation of framed twinning declarations in each territory, reaffirming the partnerships established in April 1999. The completion of the pilot programme represents a significant milestone for the association as it continues to promote cultural, educational, and community ties across the three regions.
