A&B Youth Leaders Take Stage at UN Forum

A&B young leaders are taking part in a major global youth event in New York. They are attending the 2026 Economic and Social Council Youth Forum. As a result, the country has one of its largest delegations present.

The event runs from April 14 to 16 at the United Nations Headquarters. This year, the forum focuses on sustainable development goals. In particular, it highlights action for a better future.

Moreover, the delegation is led by Director of Youth Affairs Dr Jrucilla Samuel. It also includes four National Youth Ambassadors. In addition, two members of the National Youth Volunteer Corps are present.

On the first day, Dr Samuel delivered a strong presentation. She spoke about the need for workforce rejuvenation. She explained that this means more than hiring new staff.

Instead, she said it requires a clear strategy. It should bring together experience and new ideas. Therefore, institutions can benefit from both wisdom and innovation.

Furthermore, she stressed the value of young talent. At the same time, she warned against rushing youth into leadership. She said strong leadership needs time and support.

In addition, she called for proper training. This includes quality education and real work experience. She also highlighted the need for mentorship and strong values.

Meanwhile, day two will feature more youth voices. National Youth Ambassador Amelia Williams will speak on youth empowerment. She will focus on unity and innovation.

Also, Kristine Louisa will present on sustainable cities. Both speakers will take part in the Caribbean session. This session aims to share regional ideas.

At the same time, Esquire Henry will serve as moderator. He has attended the forum before. Therefore, he brings valuable experience to the role.

Looking ahead, the final day will highlight national progress. Christal Percival will present Antigua and Barbuda’s work on sustainable cities. This adds to the country’s strong presence.

Additionally, the delegation met Ambassador Aubrey Webson. He encouraged them to stay active in global advocacy. He also praised their work in key areas.

These areas include education, health, and sustainability. He also spoke about resilience and data systems. This supports stronger communities.

Overall, the forum creates a space for dialogue. It brings together youth and global leaders. In the end, it aims to boost progress on key development goals.
