Students from Antigua and Barbuda are eligible to apply for fully funded undergraduate fellowships through the King’s Commonwealth Fellowship Programme (KCFP).

The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) has opened applications for 11 undergraduate fellowships. The programme supports students from Commonwealth Small Island Developing States who plan to study subjects linked to climate resilience and sustainable development.

The fellowships will support full-time undergraduate study in four areas. These are education, engineering, health and sustainable tourism.

The programme responds to economic, social and environmental challenges facing Small Island Developing States. It also aims to help countries build skills in areas that are important for climate resilience and national development.

24 Commonwealth Countries Eligible

Citizens from 24 Commonwealth countries can apply. The eligible countries include Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Eligible applicants also include citizens from Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.

Applicants must be due to begin undergraduate study between January and December 2027. They must also apply for an eligible programme within one of the approved subject areas.

The fellowship provides financial support along with professional development opportunities. Fellows will also join an alumni network.

The programme aims to help graduates build careers that support their island communities and contribute to sustainable national development.

Professor Colin Riordan, ACU Secretary General and Chief Executive, said Small Island Developing States face significant challenges from climate change. He said the fellowships will support the next generation of professionals in areas that can strengthen communities and essential services.

The ACU is responsible for designing and delivering the King’s Commonwealth Fellowship Programme. The organization brings experience in managing international scholarship and fellowship programmes.

Applications close on October 14, 2026.
