Barbuda Boosts Infrastructure with New Projects

Barbuda

Barbuda is boosting its infrastructure with several new projects. These efforts aim to improve public services and prepare the island for emergencies. Many of the projects are funded by a $31 million loan from the Caribbean Development Bank, along with government support.

The island’s Barbuda Council Administrative Building has been fully renovated. It now offers modern facilities to help local government work better and serve residents more efficiently. Disaster preparedness is a key focus, too. The National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) opened a new building this year. This upgrade helps Barbuda better handle hurricanes and other emergencies after the damage caused by Hurricane Irma in 2017.

Community spaces are getting an upgrade as well. The Barbuda Community Centre has been repaired and strengthened. It now functions as both a place for public meetings and cultural events, as well as a certified emergency shelter. These infrastructure improvements mark a big step forward for Barbuda’s safety and community life.
