Antigua and Barbuda is projected to record a real GDP growth rate of 4.8 percent by the end of 2025. Prime Minister Gaston Browne shared the estimate during his weekly radio programme, adding that the economy is also expected to grow by five percent in 2026.

He said the country’s GDP has now passed the two-billion-US-dollar mark. Moreover, he described the full economic indicators as “remarkable,” noting that the figures show clear progress. Browne said his administration’s performance proves that “we have delivered for the people of Antigua and Barbuda.”

Additionally, he highlighted another milestone. Per capita income has now risen above EC$60,000, which places the country ahead of several Caribbean neighbours. He said the increase reflects sustained improvements across key sectors.

Furthermore, Browne pointed to growth in education, agriculture and tourism. He said the government is exploring major opportunities to expand educational exports through the University of the West Indies Five Islands campus. He believes the expansion could open new revenue streams for the country.

He also outlined upcoming developments in agriculture. Plans include an eco-park at Christian Valley and an agro-industrial park to support food production. These projects, he said, aim to strengthen food security and reduce dependence on imports.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister said the government will continue to diversify tourism. New efforts will focus on sports tourism, conference tourism and other niche areas to expand the country’s reach. He said these initiatives will support long-term economic growth and build resilience.

Overall, Browne insisted that the economic outlook remains strong. He said continued investment, sector expansion and targeted development will keep the country on a steady growth path.
