PM Clarifies the Return of 30 Vehicles
PM Gaston Browne addressed concerns about a recent vehicle purchase issue. He emphasized that neither he nor Minister Brown is involved in any scandal. The claim that 200 vehicles were bought is false. The government usually purchases fewer than 100 vehicles each year.
The Prime Minister admitted there was a policy breach regarding private vehicle purchases for public servants. These purchases were made without Cabinet approval. In response, about 30 vehicles have been returned to dealerships. The Prime Minister assured the public that he will share more updates as the investigation continues.
He explained that the situation came to light after his earlier statement. People began sharing information, initially thinking only two vehicles were involved. The Prime Minister warned dealers that providing unauthorized vehicles would be treated as gifts. He ordered the return of the vehicles because such policy violations happen too often.
