A&B welcomes delegates as Antigua and Barbuda prepares for the 44th Caribbean Travel Marketplace 2026. The event runs until May 15.

Ahead of the opening, Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism Michael Freeland joined officials at VC Bird International Airport on Sunday. He attended meet-and-greet activities and delegate arrivals.

In addition, tourism stakeholders also gathered to welcome visitors. The airport event highlighted government efforts to deliver a warm reception.

Furthermore, arriving delegates received the signature hospitality of Antigua and Barbuda. The country is hosting the Caribbean’s leading tourism marketing event.

Minister Freeland personally welcomed key regional officials during the arrivals. He greeted Tourism Minister for Anguilla Cardigan Connor. He also welcomed Chantelle Richardson.

Moreover, Freeland emphasized the importance of hosting the event for a second consecutive year. He said the economic impact reaches many sectors.

“Antigua and Barbuda is proud to host the Caribbean Travel Marketplace for the second consecutive year,” he said.

In addition, he noted benefits for hotels, restaurants, transport providers, small businesses, vendors, and tourism partners. He said the event creates direct economic opportunities.

Furthermore, he explained that the Marketplace strengthens regional exposure. He added that it builds confidence in Antigua and Barbuda as a leading tourism destination.

He also said the country can deliver world-class experiences on regional and international stages.

Organized by the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association, the event brings together tourism suppliers and buyers. They meet to conduct business and strengthen partnerships.

As a result, the Marketplace supports tourism growth across the Caribbean region. It also helps build stronger industry connections.

Meanwhile, Antigua and Barbuda’s role as host highlights its rising importance in regional tourism. It also shows its capacity to stage major international events.

In addition, the Ministry of Tourism, the Antigua and Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association, and private sector partners continue preparations. They aim to deliver a strong and memorable event.

Finally, officials say the Marketplace will showcase the best of Antigua and Barbuda. The destination expects a week focused on business, networking, and tourism development.
