Police are investigating a fatal traffic collision on All Saints Road that claimed one life on Tuesday morning.

The accident involved a motor bus and an employee of the National Solid Waste Management Authority. The incident happened on May 12, 2026, in St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda.

According to police, the bus travelled from west to east along All Saints Road. Investigators alleged the vehicle moved at a high rate of speed before the driver lost control.

As a result, the bus reportedly veered off the road moments later.

The vehicle then struck a worker from the National Solid Waste Management Authority. The impact pinned the man between the bus and a truck parked along the northern side of the road.

Sadly, the worker suffered fatal injuries during the collision.

A medical doctor later arrived at the scene and officially pronounced him dead at approximately 10:56 a.m.

Police have since identified the deceased as 29-year-old Okeem Lightfoot of Swetes Village.

Meanwhile, emergency personnel transported the driver of the bus to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre for treatment. However, police did not release details about the driver’s condition.

Following the tragedy, the Police Administration extended condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones. Officials acknowledged the difficult time facing those close to the deceased.

In addition, police reminded motorists to drive carefully and obey all traffic laws. Officers especially urged drivers to respect speed limits while travelling on the nation’s roads.

Furthermore, authorities stressed the importance of caution behind the wheel to help prevent serious accidents.

The fatal collision has once again raised concerns about road safety across Antigua and Barbuda. However, investigators continue gathering information about the circumstances surrounding the crash.

At this time, police have not announced any charges linked to the incident.

Meanwhile, officers continue their investigation as they work to determine the full sequence of events leading to the deadly collision on All Saints Road.

Police also encouraged motorists to remain alert, drive responsibly, and exercise patience while using public roads.

The investigation remains ongoing.
