A 33-year-old man has died after spending nearly two weeks on life support. Reports linked his injuries to a fall during an ABLP motorcade.

The man, a resident of Newfield, died at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre early Monday morning. He had remained hospitalized since 26th April.

According to reports, the incident happened during an Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party motorcade. Sources claimed the man fell from a truck and suffered serious injuries.

Shortly afterward, people reportedly found him unresponsive. Sources also said blood was coming from his eyes at the scene.

Meanwhile, medical staff rushed him to the hospital for emergency treatment. Doctors then placed him on life support because of his critical condition.

Hospital sources said staff last saw the patient alive around 4 a.m. However, another check around 4:30 a.m. found him unresponsive.

Medical workers immediately began resuscitation efforts. Despite their attempts, doctors could not save him.

Soon after, officials informed the Coroner about the death. The Coroner later granted permission for the removal of the body.

Family members then requested that the remains be taken to a local funeral home.

At this stage, authorities have not confirmed an official cause of death. However, investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The death has since sparked public discussion across Antigua and Barbuda. Many residents have raised concerns about safety during large political motorcades.

Additionally, some citizens have called for stronger safety measures during campaign events. Others urged organizers to ensure that supporters travel securely during celebrations and rallies.

So far, officials have not released further details about the investigation. They also have not confirmed whether anyone witnessed the reported fall.

Nevertheless, inquiries remain ongoing as authorities work to determine exactly what happened.
