More Than 930 Patients Treated in ‘A Thousand Smiles’ Project
More than 930 patients have received care in the inaugural ‘A Thousand Smiles’ dental project. Moreover, the initiative runs for six days.
The project is a collaboration between the Sandals Foundation, Great Shape Inc., and the Ministry of Health. Furthermore, it is currently staged at the Multi-Purpose Cultural and Exhibition Center.
This week marks the second and final phase of the event. During the opening week, 758 individuals received various dental procedures. These included extractions, teeth cleaning, fillings, and root canals.
On Monday, January 26th, the medical team treated 176 patients. This was the second-highest daily total on record. Consequently, the total number of patients treated reached 934.
The project aims to improve oral health while offering free, professional dental care. In addition, it provides education on dental hygiene for participants.
Moreover, the initiative has drawn significant community support. Local residents have expressed gratitude for the opportunity to receive care without cost.
Dental professionals involved said teamwork and preparation were key to handling large patient numbers efficiently. Meanwhile, organizers continue to encourage individuals to attend the final days of the project.
Furthermore, the program demonstrates how partnerships between foundations, health organizations, and government bodies can deliver impactful community services. Patients have praised both the quality and speed of treatment provided.
As the project concludes, staff will review outcomes and gather feedback. In addition, plans are being discussed to expand the program in future years.
Ultimately, the ‘A Thousand Smiles’ dental project shows the importance of accessible healthcare. Moreover, it highlights how organized initiatives can make a real difference in community well-being.
