Central Board of Health Updates Burial Fees Effective January 2026

Central

Central Board of Health has announced revised fees for public and private burial services. The updated charges take effect on January 5, 2026.

According to the Central Board of Health, the changes apply to grave digging, care, and private burial plots. The revisions affect both public and private burial arrangements.

First, the fee for digging a single grave has been adjusted based on age. For stillborns or children under three years, the cost is now set at $100.

Next, the fee for children aged three to under 15 is $250. Meanwhile, the cost for persons aged 15 and over has increased to $500.

In addition, the Central Board of Health has updated maintenance costs. Care and maintenance of a single grave for one year, or part thereof, will now cost $150.

Furthermore, new fees apply to private burial plots with multiple graves. The Board stated that the first grave in a private plot will cost $300.

After that, each additional grave space within the same plot will cost $50. This structure applies only to private burial plots containing more than one grave.

Moreover, the Board emphasized the importance of proper payment procedures. All burial-related payments must be made directly at the CBH office.

Specifically, payments are to be completed at the Central Board of Health office on Upper Church Street. No alternative payment locations were listed.

The Board said the revised fees are now official. Therefore, all services provided after January 5, 2026, will follow the updated rate structure.

Additionally, families and funeral service providers are encouraged to take note of the changes. This is especially important when planning burials after the effective date.

The announcement applies equally to public and private burial services. No exemptions or special provisions were mentioned.

Overall, the Central Board of Health said the updated fees are part of its ongoing administrative responsibilities. The Board continues to oversee burial services across its jurisdiction.

Residents are advised to contact the CBH office directly for further clarification. The Board has not announced any further changes at this time.
