One detainee remains on the run following an escape from the St John’s Police Station. Police are searching for Dante Hunkins of Golden Grove after the incident over the weekend.

According to police, Hunkins escaped from custody at about 5:00 pm on Saturday. At the time, he was being held in the station’s lock-up. Additionally, two other detainees escaped during the same incident.

Those two men were later recaptured. Police confirmed that Devonjay Bird and Pete Cummings, both of Nut Grove, were rearrested on Monday. As a result, Hunkins is now the only escapee still at large.

Police said the three men broke out of the lock-up by damaging part of the cell. Because of this, Bird and Cummings are expected to face further charges. These charges include escaping lawful confinement and malicious damage.

Meanwhile, police continue to search for Hunkins. Officers are asking members of the public to assist. Therefore, anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact authorities.

Police have not released further details at this time.
