Antigua to Host 44Cup Sailing Event in 2027

Antigua and Barbuda is set to host the first two events of the international 44Cup sailing circuit in 2027, as the competition marks its 20th anniversary.

The first event is scheduled for January 27–31, with the fleet based at Falmouth Harbour Marina. The second will take place from March 3–7 in English Harbour, with the yachts berthed at Nelson’s Dockyard Marina.

The 44Cup brings together professional sailors and international owner-driver teams to compete in high-performance RC44 racing yachts. The boats are designed to be identical, placing the focus on sailing skill and team tactics.

The Antigua and Barbuda Yachting and Marine Association welcomed the announcement, noting that the events could create opportunities for local marinas, marine services, hotels, restaurants, transportation providers and other businesses.

The two races add to the country’s international yachting calendar and are expected to bring increased attention to Antigua’s sailing sector.
