A fatal road crash on Pares Main Road claimed the lives of 36-year-old Sherwin Harding of Skerritts Pasture and three-year-old Janae Browne on Monday night.

Police said the collision happened around 7:50 p.m. near Welch Supermarket. Harding was driving a grey Toyota Vitz when he reportedly attempted to overtake another vehicle and encountered an oncoming car. He tried to return to his lane but lost control.

The vehicle struck a fence and wall before spinning and stopping on the roadway. Harding and the child were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other passengers, Rashima Moore and three-year-old Jahcari Browne, were taken to Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre. Both are reported to be in stable condition. Police are continuing their investigation and urging motorists to drive carefully, obey speed limits and avoid dangerous overtaking.
