ABWU

ABWU to host a full day of Labour Day activities on 4 May. Antigua and Barbuda Workers’ Union has planned a rally, a march, and a beach event.

First, the day will begin with a rally at 09:00. This will take place at the union’s headquarters on Lower Newgate Street in St John’s. Organisers expect a strong turnout.

Next, participants will take to the streets at 11:00. The march will move through central St John’s. It will highlight workers’ rights and unity. In addition, union leaders will deliver key messages along the route.

Afterwards, activities will shift to Ffryes Beach. The family fun day will begin at midday. This part will focus on inclusion and community spirit. Children will enjoy games and rides. Meanwhile, families can relax by the sea.

Moreover, organisers say the beach event will welcome everyone. It aims to balance advocacy with celebration. As a result, more people can take part in Labour Day events.

Traditionally, Labour Day highlights workers’ rights and union efforts. It also provides a platform to discuss wages and working conditions. Therefore, this year’s event will continue that focus.

However, the union is also looking ahead. The theme stresses stronger commitment to social development and equity. In turn, speakers are expected to address fairness and opportunity for all workers.

In addition, the union is encouraging wide public support. It invites workers, families, and community members to join. By doing so, it hopes to build stronger unity.

Overall, the schedule blends advocacy and celebration. First comes the rally, then the march, and finally the beach event.

In conclusion, the 4 May activities promise energy and purpose. They will bring the community together while keeping workers’ issues front and centre.
