Antigua and Barbuda Names Athletes for 2026 CARIFTA Games in Grenada

Antigua and Barbuda has officially announced its team for the 2026 CARIFTA Games. The event runs from April 4th to 6th in Grenada over Easter weekend.

The Antigua and Barbuda Athletics Association (ABAA) revealed athletes across Under-17, Under-20, and junior categories. The team includes both male and female competitors, covering sprints, middle-distance, jumps, and throws.

For Under-17 Girls, the selected athletes are Zonique Charles in javelin, Jaeda Pigott in the 800m, and Tyra Fenton in the 200m and 400m. Meanwhile, Under-17 Boys include Naeem Simon in high jump, Geron Henry in 200m, 400m, and 4x400m relay, Lion Samuel in 800m and 4x400m, Shaquan Garding in 400m and 4x400m, Shawn’zee Joseph in 1500m, 3000m, and 4x400m, and Elite Thomas in 1500m and 3000m.

In the Under-20 category, Kettia Ambrose will represent the girls, while boys include Maliek Francis in javelin, Conroy Wilson in 100m and 4x100m, Delbert Joseph in 100m, 200m, and 4x100m, Judah Ashe in 200m and 4x100m, and Nathaniel Jones in 4x100m.

The management team is led by Manager Everton Cornelius and Head Coach Jamille Nelson. Supporting them are Assistant Coaches Heather Samuel-Daley and Evans Jawakie Jones, Physio William Richards, and Safeguarding Officer Anika Jno-Baptiste.

The ABAA congratulated all athletes and encouraged them to perform at their best while representing Antigua and Barbuda. Officials reminded the team that dedication and focus are key to success on the regional stage.

The athletes will depart Antigua on April 2nd and return on April 7th. The ABAA expressed confidence that the team’s preparation and talent will showcase the nation’s athletic prowess. They also highlighted the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and national pride during the games.
