Young steel pan talents shine at National Junior Solo Competition
Young performers took center stage at the National Junior Solo Competition on March 15th, 2026.
The event was held at The UWI Global Campus. Meanwhile, it showcased the exceptional skills of youth steel pan players.
Furthermore, the audience enjoyed captivating performances, vibrant energy, and infectious enthusiasm throughout the evening.
Fourteen young artists competed, impressing judges with their creativity, dedication, and mastery of the steel pan.
In the 5–13 age category, Kaiya Casimir and Keiyanna Davis took first place. Meanwhile, Tianna Spencer placed third.
For the 14–21 age category, Keshawn Benjamin earned first place, while Imani Quinland took second.
Additionally, Zari Roach placed third, and Calique Thomas earned fourth.
The Department of Culture expressed gratitude to event partners. These included Glow Up, Square Deal Security Solutions, Firehouse Grill, and Books by Barbara.
Moreover, special thanks went to Aubrey “Lacu” Samuel and Curtis “CC” Cochrane for supporting youth performers through demonstrations.
Their contributions enhanced the event and reinforced the importance of nurturing young talent.
The Department of Culture emphasized its commitment to promoting Antigua and Barbuda’s cultural heritage. It said events like this celebrate youth achievement and creativity.
